The Wisdom of Trauma
Trauma is the invisible force that shapes our lives. It shapes the way we live, the way we love and the way we make sense of the world. It is the root of our deepest wounds. Dr. Maté gives us a new vision: a trauma-informed society in which parents, teachers, physicians, policy-makers and legal personnel are not concerned with fixing behaviours, making diagnoses, suppressing symptoms and judging, but seek instead to understand the sources from which troubling behaviours and diseases spring in the wounded human soul. He points us to the path of individual and collective healing.

Climate Change - Volunteer Positions
Greg McKone with Fraser Valley Climate Action is looking for volunteers.
The godly mandate to care for our neighbour is connected with caring for the Earth. The negative effects of Climate Change have a greater impact on the poor and vulnerable among us. As part of Jesus' call to "love our neighbour as ourself", we are inviting concerned people to help us stand against the selfishness and foolishness of society's current self-destructive path. This is core justice work. In keeping with the gospel and the holistic mission of the Church. Highland Community Church is hoping to find some people who can commit 1hr a week to the following open volunteer positions:
1. Letter Writers - Writing and sending letters influencing government organizations and corporations.
2. Researchers - Helping identify the correct people in government, corporations and organizations to contact. This work is performed independently online at your own pace with monthly check-ins to support your work and hear about progress.
If you would like to get involved, contact Greg McKone at 778-779-3730 or by email.
